Similarly, in the prologue to the Twelve of the Vulgate, Jerome emphasises his view that unum librum esse duodecim prophetarum. Christian tradition, e.g. Melito (second century), Athanasius (fourth century) and Epiphanius (fourth century) all speak of the Twelve as one book (for references, see Swete Introduction, pp. 203ff). The Aramaic equivalent name for the Twelve (תרי עסר) is attested in Numbers Rabba
